White CherrY Therapy
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a non invasive complementary therapy that involves
application of pressure on specific points on the hands or feet using
a finger and thumb technique, encouraging the body to heal from
within.
Reflexology is based on the principle that the hands and feet contain
mini maps of the body and by applying pressure to certain points
can have an effect on the corresponding body part. The aim of
reflexology is to release any blockages and restore the free flow of
energy and blood circulation to the whole body. Reflexology is so
much more than a simple foot rub or hand massage - it is a powerful
therapy which has been shown to have a very positive effect on
health and wellbeing.
What to expect
The first treatment will involve a twenty minute consultation. It is
important for me to understand your lifestyle, reasons for wanting
reflexology, any medical conditions, illnesses or concerns you may have so I know what areas to work on, ensuring
you get the most out of each treatment. I will then ask you to remove your shoes and/or socks and lay back and
relax on the therapy couch ensuring that you feel safe and comfortable. I will then cleanse the feet in warm,
soothing foot bath using a natural, antibacterial foot scrub. I will then observe the feet. Please do not feel
embarrassed or worried with any hard skin, verrucas, corns and such like, this is not a problem at all.
I will then begin the treatment, starting with a gentle warm up of both feet, using a little bit of talcum powder to
enable my fingers and thumbs to move over each reflex point smoothly. I will work one foot at a time covering the
whole of each foot and then revisiting areas that need more attention, depending on what has been discussed
during the consultation. I use a firm and controlled pressure which is neither painful nor ticklish.
I usually play soothing music and have many types to suit many different people but can, and have played music
my clients have brought in themselves. My aim is to make you feel as comfortable, safe and as relaxed as possible,
that way your body has the best chance of healing itself.
